Keystone Stars Program
Kiddie Korner Child Development Center is involved in the Keystone Stars Program which is affiliated with the Department of Education. Kiddie Korner is working at different levels to achieve quality rating as a facility that is committed to maintaining compliance with program regulations and to enhance quality early learning through Keystone Stars.
Infant Curriculum
Our infants are learning new things everyday! We play with a variety of toys that use different senses, such as, bright lights for sight and music for hearing. It’s not uncommon to see our staff members on the floor playing too! We love to sing and look at picture books. Our room is always brightly decorated. Since infants are all on different schedules, they eat when they are hungry and sleep when they are tired! Our staff members also teach the infants important daily skills such as sitting up, crawling, and walking!
Toddler Curriculum
Our toddler groups are always busy! A toddler’s day includes learning through play, art activities, singing and movement activities. They are learning small muscle activities such as coloring and using paste as well as large muscle activities such as dancing and playing ball. We also teach the toddler daily skills such as using a spoon, drinking from a cup, following simple directions, and eventually using the potty! We also encourage the children to use manners and play nicely with each other!
Pre-School Curriculum
Our 3 & 4 year old groups have more structured learning time than the younger groups. They participate in circle time daily that includes activities such as marking the date on the calendar, reading stories, and discussing various topics. These groups are introduced to the letters of the alphabet as well as counting and numbers. Their art activities now include more child creativity and more small muscle activities such as cutting with scissors. They seem to enjoy role playing and love to play at the local parks on warm days!
Pre-Kindergarten Curriculum
School Age Curriculum
We try to allow our Kindergarten and School-Age groups to have plenty of time for social interaction with their peers. During the school year, we offer some instruction time for the Kindergarten group and homework help for the School-Age group. Both groups also enjoy making crafts and drawing pictures. The children become more involved with playing team sports and they can’t wait for summer to arrive so they can go swimming at the local public pool!
